8 Hours of Hiking ! :))

A few of us went hiking this past Saturday. It was 8 miles and we left at 10 AM and finished at 6 PM; there were hidden water bowls throughout the hike. We went on this hike to find all the bowls and go swimming. I have always loved hiking and have never felt so invigorated in my life on this hike! Going on a 10 mile one to the beach tomorrow!! The hike ended with us passing by a deer and her two fawns grazing. It was so perfect.

I love Jamba Juice so much!! My favorite smoothie is their Strawberry Wild and I love their Chunky Strawberry Topper (the perfect breakfast!!) and their Tomato Twists are so delicious. CANNOT wait to go there tomorrow!! I love the clothes and the photos entirely. They're so bright and colorful; they make me happy just looking at them (and make me want to head out to Jamba), but it's 11:30 at night and unless there's a Jamba open that I don't know about!!! then I'm going to bed. I had a fabulous day at work and am exhausted. And really dying for all the above mentioned Jamba products right nowwww!

In the restaurant, the back walls looked liked LARGE tree-trunks. Turned out those "trunks" were the bathroom stalls!!! Each trunk was an individual stall. So odd to the greatest degree - but so cool (and so dark inside). The food was delicious. "Do you have any noodle dishes?" I asked. To which the waitress replied, "Only ramen" she said. Which was exactly what I was looking for! A few of the girls ordered a seaweed platter - I never knew there were all different types of seaweed you could eat. There was one delicious one, the other's I didn't like so much and there was a green one that I couldn't even try because it is the seaweed I see all over Malibu - ick, couldn't do that one (or at least reminiscent of the Malibu seaweed).
The room was stocked with CO Bigelow items (the shampoos and such) AND they even included lavender lipgloss!!! And a rubik's cube. Crazy odd things, but things I love. The view was great - overlooking the waters of the Bellagio. Great weekend with the girls!

It's finally warming up to 70 degree days. Which means time to toss the Uggs to the back of the closet and grab the bikinis and dresses and head to the beach.

These new Spring colors make me want to put lemon juice in my hair and get into the sun!

I have this bikini - though the bottoms are slightly different than mine (mine have rings). I love their Marie Antoinette take during their runway show.

Love this style for a man; but is this Spring? Or is this Summer? The beanie has me wondering. . .

Honestly cannot find a better pair of leggings.

Time to buy bright colors in make-up, clothes, and shoes!

My journey began Wednesday when I left Silverlake for Tokyo on a plain sunny LA morning. I'd packed haphazardly at best (five pairs of shoes? all shorts? my biggest furry coat on the plane? sure..) and was feeling a little delirious and a lot carefree, making Colin stop for my favorite coffee and orange juice so I could leave with a taste of home even though he insisted I needed the international-required 2 hours to check in. It ended with an early flight back from an airport lined with people on blankets by jam-packed ticketing counters and Next LA miraculously having succeeded in finding that one way ticket home. 

Things were going perfectly on schedule down to the minute as they do in Tokyo...my arrival was as pleasant as it was uneventful, and I was checked into my hotel in Roppongi and asleep by 11 after a quick trip to the convenience store and spending a little time allocating all my chargers and toiletries to make the next day go a little more smoothly. I was warned that hair and makeup would be getting to my room in the morning but I laughed this off with the knowledge that I'd be getting up early to make a couple quick blog posts and explore the breakfast options downstairs. After having my favorite makeup artist Mio prep me and thoroughly enjoying idly catching up with him, we hopped into a taxi to the Nylon Japan studio about half an hour away, where I was excited to style out 6 looks using both my clothes and their selects. Honestly, my biggest problem was how to put together a nautical look that wasn't too literal. 

I was in the middle of exacting this when the floor started to quiver at a little past noon. We all looked at each other in mutual acknowledgment of the earthquake, but fear wasn't really part of the equation yet. We started to wait it out..shelved items were remaining relatively in place and I was thinking it had to finish any second now. I was on the verge of going back to the clothing racks to mull over how I was going to color block when we realized it wasn't stopping. It was getting much more violent. Worried glances upward turned into a flat out decision that we had to get outside. Now. We hurried to the stairs and came out onto the street, where an old woman grasping a scraggly dog and passing motorcycles were the only others in sight. I asked stupidly while looking at the surrounding apartment buildings, is everyone still inside?...to blank faces. The asphalt below us rumbled and shook strongly for what seemed an eternity as we held each other and shivered. That shaky feeling of surfing is the only way I can describe how it was making my legs feel. Car alarms were going off and telephone poles swayed reed-like but structurally everything seemed to be holding pretty fast in our immediate vicinity. I learned later this was no mistake, Tokyo architecture being designed to do just that. My mind flitted briefly to evacuation training I'd had at the school I had gone to in Tokyo when I was little, and that every one of us had had this awkward chin-strapped yellow double pillow device to pull onto our heads in case of just this. This is a country about being prepared, ready, I reminded myself. After a few minutes it became hard to differentiate the actual shaking from how hard my heart was beating. It seemed to die down and we decided to go back up for the time being and see what the radio had to offer. A mirror had broken onto the floor and rolls of paper spilled across the room. As they found the best station, I loaded Twitter on my phone and did a quick search, immediately yielding photos of a devastated Tokyo Disneyland. The crew relayed that the epicenter was in Miyagi, 200 miles north. Level 5 here, level 8 there that was later corrected to be closer to a 9. Fuck. But my God, the levels of destruction it had and would continue to cause..we had no idea. The shaking started again, this time we grabbed our bags and headed back outside. Subsiding more quickly this time, we tried to resume regular business and finished the shoot, checking for updates throughout and wondering how we were going to get home with likely no taxis and trains completely down. It was dark by the time we were done and the photographer offered to drive however many he could fit into his car. My manager didn't know what would be best, calculating the distance and probable state of home and office..while she mulled this over I sat stiffly and thought how lucky I was to be in a car and what the hell I was supposed to do once back to the hotel. 

The scene on the drive back was unreal. Masses and masses of people, most wearing health masks, packing the sidewalks, spilling over onto the road, their faces stoic as they navigated toward shelters or home if they could. Bright convenience store windows displayed customers stocking up as shelves slowly cleared entirely. Endless lines awaited buses, seemingly the only semi-reliable public transport left. I looked up and saw a train that had come to an awkward halt on an overpass, imagined how odd it must have looked when the passengers had gotten off and walked the tracks to the nearest station. The soundtrack was what sounded like air raid sirens and not much else. And through all of this, there was no sense of panic, nothing near pandemonium, just people that knew that this was what they had to do right now. 

At the hotel. Got out in the road in the middle of gridlocked traffic with my 50 lb. suitcase in tow. I reassured my manager that I would be fine on my own for the night and tried to believe myself, not even close to being about to take someone away from where they were needed most. 

I went up the stairs to my room on the 3rd floor, still greeted courteously by the front desk....jammed my dead Pocket Wifi and iPhone into their chargers, anxious to check reports online and understand what was happening. Instantly sickened by what I was met with on Twitter and Google..instability and failing efforts to cool the Fukushima nuclear reactor worsening tweet by tweet, fires at an oil refinery in nearby Chiba, footage of tsunamis sweeping away everything in their paths like steamrollers, entire towns unaccounted for, skyscrapers swaying in Tokyo and the tip of the Tokyo Tower bent, 70,000 trapped at a flooded Disneyland, speculation about radiation poisoning, the Honshu island shifting eastward 8 feet, talk that the Big One was still on its way....equal parts heartbreaking and terrifying. Sleep obviously wasn't an option through the news and unrelenting aftershocks..this time measuring from 3-5, every one necessitating a decision to leave or stay. I intermittently read updates and Facetimed on a weak internet connection with Colin as I kind of broke down quietly. My mom emailed me from California and reported that my family in and around Tokyo was alright, my aunt saying that the force at her place was strong enough to flatten falling cans. But just relief.

The light of morning came with a call from my booker: "We're getting you home". I replied that I doubted the possibility of this, the Narita trains weren't running, the roads blocked, but she was adamant to not take no for an answer. I quickly tossed my things into my bags and stepped outside. The air felt strange, piercing, and somehow my ears were ringing. I looked up at the buildings that had held so strong and walked out to the road, deserted save clumps of cars that would pass every few minutes. After trying and failing at multiple routes I think I already knew were hopeless and 10 hours of renavigation, I made it to the airport via subway with help from every direction that I didn't deserve, most especially my Les Pros manager Noriko who didn't leave my side until the very last second at security. Even afterwards she watched me walk down the stairs to immigration and messaged me that she wouldn't be heading back until the flight was in the air. Remembering leaving her brings a lump to my throat but I know I'll be back to see her soon. I am so, so lucky. 

Tokyo held up pretty well compared to the Northeastern coast. The situation there is unbelievable and my heart goes out to the evacuees and families affected. The entire thing still doesn't feel like it could possibly be real. Some links to illustrate the actuality of the situation if you somehow haven't seen them yet:

Japan needs us right now. The ever-growing estimated death toll has skyrocketed to 10,000 and the lasting effects of the multiple phases of the disaster are impossible to fathom. I wish the entire nation resilience and hope and those working at the nuclear plants and coasts everything in my heart, but the most we can do is help by donating. People the world over, including me, are going about their daily lives while so many are devastated. Please please help by donating to the Red Cross here. I know this is supposed to be a place for pretty pictures of frivolous things and this is a lot of writing to take from me..but we have to try to make a difference. I know Japan will rise above this.

Look at the cute duck in the background. And when I got close to the duck, this MEGA HUGE male duck swam by me, tilted his head and LOOKED ME IN THE EYE!!!! I was so close I could see his eyeball and actual pupil turn and look at me. A wild animal. It was one of the most touching moments in my life.

I had the most wonderful birthday anyone could ever ask for!!! It was last week and my friend who's a professional baker made me a cake that looked like a pink purse and I was the "designer" of the "bag" and my professional make-up artist friend did my eyes. It was so exciting!!! I wore gold pants (LOL) and my favorite jacket EVER. All my friends came and we had so much food - I love cooking for my friends. And the best cake!

Almost Healed From Car Accident

I crashed at 70 MPH head-on into the freeway wall

March 11th, 2010. It was a Thursday night. I was coming home from school and crashed at 70 MPH head on into the freeway wall.
I came out uninjured except for horrible bruises, a badly cut up tongue and maybe a cracked wrist and sternum. Haven't been to doctor yet. My car is totaled and may be unfix-able. I thought I died after the impact. I was surprised when I realized I was still alive. I watched my windshield crack when I hit the wall. Never saw my airbag come out, never knew airbag was out until I looked down at my body to see if I was still in it and alive. The doors wouldn't open. My car wouldn't turn off. I rolled down the window and jumped out the window. Two people had stopped for me. I was so traumatized and couldn't find my phone - I couldn't take care of myself. It was those two people who called the police and my family.
I cannot believe I am alive.
The next day I just went to the beach and layed on the sand and basked in the sun. Smiling that I was actually lying there, alive and unbroken. Bruised and cut. What a blessing.

Sculptures of Golden Strings

The piece that I sculpted makes me so happy. I love how the helmet turned out. I have never sculpted before and my professor wanted my class to do two particular projects that were not bowls made on the ceramic wheel. I decided to do sculptures. I need to take a picture of my other sculpture and post it; it's so exciting to me! The school even displayed my pieces!!

My sister and I were having fun during the summer of '08 in Vegas. She is such a great photographer. She took this one of me and I decided to play around in the photo and then afterwards write all over the picture.

My favorite place in the world is my home; I am from Los Angeles and I love the beach. The scarf on my head I bought while I was in Germany. It's so beautiful. It is sheer and you can see the strings of gold inside of it. My mom bought the same one that is green where mine is purple.

HEART CONCERT!!!

I saw one of my top favorite bands in concert tonight. HEART !!! The concert started at 8:00 pm and at 8:00, the concert actually started on time and no pre-band. (yes!) Heart themselves came on and...they started with Barracuda!!! Oooo Barracuda. Could. Not. Believe. It. !!!! They were amazing!!! We had seats a couple rows from the stage. I was dying. They even played a Led Zeppelin song (one of the few bands who can cover Zeppelin and the audience is proud).

Before the concert, my mom,my sister and I went out and we all three got manicures and pedicures together. For the concert I wore hot pink tights (haha) with my AWang heels with my AWang top with my Chanel jacket and pink Chanel purse. It was definitely a more wild outfit, but I was at HEART and in Vegas. I had a mixture of 1970's and 1980's going on - the years when the band was new and at their height (they've never lost it either!). The whole crowd became friends - we were all singing together and dancing with each other, and no one ever sat down. Amazing!!! Then after the concert was over, this band outside the theatre (who is SO great, by the way) was really rocking it.

All the Heart concert go-ers went and packed in, listening to this other band; and because the bar/club was filled with Heart fans, they played Barracuda for us. We were all dancing out on the floor. There wasn't a person that wasn't dancing.
What a great night!!

I Saw the Lights Today

Thank you everyone for you really wonderful comments!!!! They really made me happy. Yes, it WAS a dream come true for me to meet him!!
There was double-sided sticky tape left on some of the clothes! Alexander said about my shoes, "They're really comfortable, aren't they!" We laughed as I solved a rubik's cube for him. He showed me his pieces, showed me this AWESOME purse I am dying to get - it is so heavy. He took off a few of his clothes off the racks and we talked about it. We talked about the bra I have that he designed (I'm totally obsessed with it and everything he makes). He was UNBELIEVABLE!! Sweet. Wonderful. Not into himself. Him and my dad were chatting and laughing about things - I was not with them during that; I was busy looking at this sweet puppy someone brought that she recently saved. We talked in detail about many of his past and present pieces (something which really interest me - so I ask all these questions).

I have met my favorite designer!! I was invited to his trunk show and was able to purchase his pieces before they hit the stores. They were the sample pieces from his actual runway show - with things left on some of the clothes from the show. It was such a fantastic experience!! Him and I hung out and talked. I was able to ask him all the questions regarding his pieces that I am most obsessed with (including all the things of his that I own). A dream of mine has once again come true!!!! Absolutely ecstatic!!!

Celebrated New Years Eve in Las Vegas with my two girls!!! I have always heard it is one of the most amazing places to be on New Years - and it is!!!!
We are all sooo layered in many clothes - as it was in the 30's that night. 11 minute firework show being put on by more than a few hotels. The crowd turning into a rip-tide after everything was over; I felt like I was in the ocean suddenly. Everyone was nice though. Making friends with total strangers, "Grab on, we're pushing through!" a stranger said to me. Haha Never let go of your party in this crowd! You'll lose each other. It was great!! Great night!! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!! 2010!!!

Sorry I haven't posted in forever!!! So I went a little wild with this post and posted a lot of pics. haha

I love the white dress, I just bought it today & am wondering if it'll become my new wild love. There's a picture with my arm off; I went with my boyfriend to film a student film he was in and was asked to participate. "We'll have to cut your arm off and your boyfriend will be holding your arm." It's a morbidly funny film. I really love it. My blue tank that I'm wearing, I just bought it and went to the Britney concert (that's where the photo is taken). Such an amazing show!!!! She played my favorite Marilyn Manson cover during one of her costume changes with a gorgeous video to go with it. I was entranced. My friend and I were dancing at a club and the bouncer took our picture. haha It looks like we were caught in a risque move, but we weren't. I'm not crazy about Brad & Angelina, but I thought this photo was just so cool that I posted it. So funny, I came across of a saved shot from my game that I play. This was when I first started. My team-mate found me on the "fight" board. Haha I am a much higher level now. I saw Steve Wyrick's magic show recently and afterwards met him and took a picture with him. He danced in his show, every now and then. It was hot. Haha He danced so manly...seriously. I thought it was hot. lol

Outdoors was so hot and the hotels were freezing. The only other shoes I had to walk for miles were high heels. So here I am, wearing Uggs with shorts...on a 90 degree night at that! That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :)

Sorry for such a long time to post.

I was in a store and when these highhhhhhh shoes caught my eye, I was glued.

I was watching, "So You Think You Can Dance" and the BEST DANCE of the night (and frankly, one of the best dances ever choregraphed and danced...ever!) was choreographed by ridiculously great Mia Michaels and danced to a beautiful song called, "Koop Island Blues." I never had an opinion on Mia Michaels before this; but after this dance, I love her work! The song made me think of Gene Kelly and took me back to nights in Paris and New York. It was cat-like and called of Elizabeth Taylor in that slip-dress in Tennessee Williams, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof."
Intriguing. Absolutely intriguing.

My 22nd birthday!!!

For my 22 birthday a couple days ago, I wore a tutu because I turned two-two. :)

My friends bought me a crown. I thought, "Well, I'm wearing a tutu, might as well go all out!" Everyone at the restaurant and everywhere else we went, immediately knew it was my birthday. People were really cool this night and told me they liked my tutu. I started the day off at 8 AM having a wonderful breakfast at the beach. It was a perfect birthday, celebrating it with the people I love (from breakfast all the way to the after-dinner parties). I solved a rubik's cube a few millions times in between too. ;)

Saw Dirty Dancing tonight, it was a birthday gift from my family. It was unbelievable! The character Johnny had huge shoes to fill (being Patrick Swayze's); he did a great job that left no one in the audience wanting. When the door beside my row was slammed open and "Johnny" strutted down towards the stage, I died! When the notes of the last FAMOUS dance scene began and Johnny said the infamous line, "Nobody puts Baby in a corner" the crowd went wiiild!! It was great. The play ended. Standing ovation was given.

Last week I had a dinner with my favorite people in the world. :) It was a dressy place; so we all got to dress to the nines (which I love). Afterwards we all went out dancing and stayed out til 4. It was a lot of fun! I love these shoes. That fringe adds a little wildness to the equation. This restaurant makes me feel like I am in the deep South, hearing the frogs croak on an infamously humid Southern night (though it was a cold night in these pictures).

I'm listening to one of my favorite bands while writing this. Such a beautiful voice, this singer has.

Raquel Allegra Fashion Show

I was extremely excited when designer Raquel Allegra personally invited me to come to her fashion show! My friend Cristin came along with me and we had such a great time. The theatre that the show was held at was gorgeous; looked like a chateau in Europe with the detailed ceilings and walls and floors. Even the bathrooms were gorgeous - with their corridors and hallways and doors, and vanities (yes, that was just the bathroom).

As soon as the first model in Raquel's show walked out, it all became so surreal. That I am not looking at pictures of her artful pieces on Style.com; but that I am actually here and experiencing this in person. So on March, Friday the 13 or 2009, it was my lucky day. I had such a great time!

I loved before the show started, Cristin and I came upon some models practicing their walks before the show. Then afterwards, I saw a couple of Raquel's models still in her dresses walking around; some other models were changing back into their "street" clothes.

I saw another show attendee in the new Alexander Wang holey sweater and a black bolero hat; she looked very cute. There were many photographers all around, from 944 magazine to other bloggers.

Viva La Givenchy!

I FINALLY got my Givenchy shoes today!! I didn't want to spend $2,000 on them and I finally found one's that look exactly like the Givenchy's for much much less the cost. I cannot wait for them to arrive in the mail. I am soooo ridiculously happy right now and just filled with that sweet anticipation that a shoe lover get's when finally finding that treasure they searched so long and hard for.

All of the following shoes are from Givenchy 2009. Looks that I love.

Ahhh, my Gladiator wardrobe is almost complete.
Wait, nix that. I've loved the Gladiator style my whooole life. So now that it's "in" (ugh I hate being a part of a trend); I am STOCKING UP!!! :D

I love Victoria Beckham and usually like her fashion choices. I am obsessed with the boots she's wearing. Though, I'd rather not the material that they're made out of; something more practical. - So I can wear them more often. i.e.: Every other day.

I am not crazy about her dress, I know exactly what I would wear with these boots.

Even though with that said, I love Vic Beckham and I think she's great.

And YES, they're walkable!! Orrr at least walkable by my standards.

With her incessant drilling of "that extra half an inch", you can understand my surprise at this weekend's headlines: "Victoria Beckham in heel-less boots shocker!" What on earth is going on?
Has the poster girl of gravity-defying heels gone mad, ditching her 10-in Louboutins for a pair of zero-elevation flatties? (This is the woman who even wore heels on the baseball pitch, remember.)
Well, the answer is that no, Posh hasn't ditched the heels - much to the chagrin of bunion-watchers everywhere. But yes, the woman is mad - mad for stepping out in a pair of five-and-a-half-inch-high Latex boots that come sans heels.
And I would know, because latterly I have been wearing said boots around Paris's Place Vendôme, looking like some lost dominatrix who's longing to be taken back to the manacled comforts of her underground dungeon.
The first obstacle was getting the things on - they're like ultra-tight leggings with shoes on the end. And it doesn't help that the boots, which are made to order by British-born, Paris-based designer Antonio Berardi, and come in at a whopping £3,300, are thigh-high on a supermodel and I'm only 5ft 3in. But thankfully, they do have zips and - with the help of copious amounts of talcum powder - I succeeded in doing them up.
Managing to stand up was less interesting - easy, even - thanks to their brilliant engineering. The platform base is weighted, which forces your foot downwards and forwards so that you can't fall backwards. No David Beckham required. I even braved the rainy, slippery streets in them.
I spotted a family from Switzerland gawping at me. The mother thought them brilliant, but her husband said that he would not want her to wear them. And judging by the number of "Ooh look, there's another fashion victim" sniggers and stares I got, no wonder.

I have this gorgeous purple and gold stringed scarf I bought while in Germany. It fell upon the sand and I am picking it up. You can see a little bit of it behind the tips of my hair.

I saw these last night. I thought they were so interesting...clear tennis shoes??! I can't wait to try a pair on.

My sister took this. I love when she'll take pictures of me and I won't find out until later, when she shows me the photos. Here I am looking into the window of my favorite store. I felt that this photo captured me. I love looking at the outfits they make up for the windows as I pass by this store, whenever I'm on my way in or out of work.

I love these red & white slippers from Abercrombie & Fitch. I couldn't find the other one that night, so I grabbed a purple sock for my other foot. Haha I found my matching slipper the next morning.
